Biography

A native of New York City, Teresa Seran, a ceramic artist, moved to San Francisco in the 1990s with a newfound passion to paint. With San Francisco as her new home and source of inspiration, she made the decision to return to school and pursue her interest in painting. In the year 2000, she graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Painting.

After several years of painting in her home studio, she relocated to Hunters Point Shipyard, an artist colony, where she paints and exhibits her work today.

During the fall of 2003, 2004, 2006 she was a guest instructor with "Etruscan Places" Open Air Landscape Painting Programs in Tuscany, Italy.

Teresa Seran's paintings derive much of their life and vitality from the process of creation to the materials used. Once a painting has been initiated, the work takes on a life of its own. It is the joy of the unexpected and her willingness to go along for the ride that often produce Teresa's best work.

In her invented landscapes she seeks to address the fragile and turbulent.
